Every so often a program gets two runners who make each other better just by lacing up, and that's exactly what we've got in Caro this fall with seniors Violet Tetil and Luke Herron leading the way. At the Mike Jackson Invitational at Croswell-Lexington on Aug. 20, Herron won by 55 seconds in 15 minutes, 49.2 seconds, while Tetil took her race by 41 seconds at 19:10 — a pair of statements to open the season. The résumés run deep for both. Tetil holds the Caro school record at 18:50.5, set at Ubly back in October of 2025, and Herron owns the second-fastest time in program history behind three-time champ Yami Albrecht. Remember, Herron placed sixth at the 2025 Division 3 Cross Country Final, and Tetil finished 12th at the Lower Peninsula Division 3 Final a year ago. Now both are eyeing a top-five finish at the Division 3 Finals, set for Nov. 7 at Michigan International Speedway. Herron is weighing Hillsdale and Cedarville, while Tetil has drawn interest from Hillsdale, Wayne State, and Bowling Green. Two seniors, one mission.
