Gideon Gash Chases Repeat Title as Catholic Central Star Eyes Texas Tech

Here's a name every Michigan high school fan ought to know: Gideon Gash, the Detroit Catholic Central Senior chasing a repeat and doing it in three sports at once. At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, this kid was named all-state in the fall as a lockdown defensive back, piling up 74 tackles and nine pass breakups, then went and caught three long touchdown passes in a championship win over Detroit Cass Tech at Ford Field. And he doesn't stop when football does. Gash finished second in the 100-meter dash at the Catholic High School League meet, won the long jump there, took third in the long jump at the Lower Peninsula Division 1 Finals, and even suited up for the Shamrocks as DCC won a Division 1 lacrosse title. That is a full year of work in one athlete! Now he's committed to Texas Tech, planning to enroll early and start college in January, after gaining 10 pounds of muscle since last fall. Number 11 is the one to watch this season for the Shamrocks.
