Week 2 across our high school gridirons gave us everything on September 5, and nothing topped Jonesville and Leslie trading haymakers in a 64-62 triple-overtime marathon that tied for the fifth highest-scoring overtime game in MHSAA history. Leslie has piled up 119 points over two games, Jonesville 98 — and in a shootout like that, someone had to blink first. Up in Detroit, King's Crusaders survived their own triple-OT thriller, edging Orchard Lake St. Mary's 44-42 after neither side scored across the final eight minutes of regulation and a 22-22 deadlock. Meanwhile the reigning Division 1 champ Detroit Catholic Central rolled Davison 56-14, topping 50 in both games this fall. The upsets carried real weight, too. Mason handed reigning Division 3 champ DeWitt its first loss since the 2024 Semifinals, 30-17, and Rochester Adams held off Rochester 21-19 — the Falcons' first win over Adams since 1996. Almont ran its Blue Water Area Conference streak to 25, and Caro sits 2-0 for the first time since 2009. The fall is just getting started, and there is plenty more to come.
