Our Michigan-bred ballplayers are climbing the pro ladder and we could not be prouder! Brock Porter, the 23-year-old righty out of Orchard Lake St. Mary's, has clawed all the way back after starting 0-9 over his first two minor league seasons, and now he is 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 43 innings for Hickory! Porter is one of four Eaglets from those 2019-22 MHSAA Finals champion clubs now in pro ball, and remember he went a combined 30-0 with an ERA under a run per game for three championship teams! Ike Irish, Baltimore's No. 2 prospect, is mashing with 12 homers and 47 RBIs at High-A Frederick! Caleb Bonemer, our Okemos kid, even got drilled by Yankees ace Gerrit Cole with a 97-mph fastball on May 5 after homering off him earlier! And Nolan Schubart, that Guardians prospect, was named Midwest League Player of the Week last Monday with three homers and 12 RBIs! Nolan Higgins joined the party Sunday, taken by Toronto in the fifth round!
