Negaunee Girls Track Runs Undefeated, Record-Setting Season to Perfection!

What a season it was for our Negaunee girls track squad, finishing first in every single meet they ran all year long! They retained their Upper Peninsula Division 1 Finals title and set eight school records along the way, and that is just downright dominance! Junior Keira Waterman went under 2:20 in the 800 with a 2:19.78 record — coach Vickie Paupore says she never had a girl do that through 30 years of coaching! Junior Sadie Rogers, a three-time U.P. champ in the 100 hurdles, set the U.P. Finals record in the 300 hurdles at 45.04 seconds on May 30! Sophomore Elvira Coyne blazed a 12.61 in the 100, topping last year's mark by a tenth of a second! At the Mid-Peninsula Conference finals on May 18 at Gwinn, our girls dropped 317 points to Manistique's 85 and grabbed their 16th consecutive M-PC title, and they took a fifth-straight WPAC crown too! Senior Nori Korsman cleared 10 feet in the pole vault and now has over 500 career points! What a group!
