What a night at Little Caesars Arena, as 19,515 of Red Wings fans watched Viktor Arvidsson score his sixth career hat trick and add a helper in a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Connor Bedard got the Hawks on the board first, backhanding a rebound at 5:59 of the opening period, but the Wings answered — Arvidsson deflecting William Wallinder's point shot past Spencer Knight at 7:31 of the second to knot it up. John Gibson was a wall when we needed him, stopping Frank Nazar on a second-period penalty shot to keep it 1-all, and from there the Wings took over. Lucas Raymond buried a power-play goal from the right circle early in the third, Arvidsson tipped in Alex DeBrincat's rebound with 4:34 left, then capped it with an empty-netter for the hatty. That's 5-1-1 over our last seven, and it comes amid the heavy stuff around Dylan Larkin. The quiet, serious note: the organization suspended our captain without pay before this one. We host St. Louis on Saturday.
