Well, Michigan family, this one isn't about us — but a title 58 years in the making deserves a tip of the cap, and the Milwaukee Brewers finally have their hands on the hardware. They took down the Rays 4-1 in Game 5 in St. Petersburg to win it all in five games, closing the book on the 123rd World Series and the first championship in franchise history. Think about the road they walked: a franchise record 103 wins, a 26-5 closing run going back to September, then an 11-2 march through October that swept the Dodgers — the same club that bounced them out of the last two NLCS — and dispatched the Padres in four. Contreras took home MVP honors and proclaimed himself the best catcher in the world, and after a run like that, who's arguing? For a team among the smallest media markets, ranked 19th or 20th in payroll, this is the little guy getting off the mat and hoisting the trophy. Robin Yount and Paul Molitor carried that lone 1982 pennant. These Brewers carried home the banner.
