The leadership core is set, Detroit, and it is a group we know and trust. Our Lions have named Jared Goff, Penei Sewell and Amon-Ra St. Brown as offensive captains, with Jack Campbell, Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeill anchoring the defense and Jack Fox handling special teams. Goff wears the "C" for a sixth straight season after leading the NFL's No. 4 scoring offense with 4,564 yards and 34 touchdowns. The familiar faces run deep. St. Brown makes it four years running as a captain, sitting first in Lions history in receptions (547) and receiving yards (6,252) through five seasons. Sewell earns his fourth Pro Bowl and third straight All-Pro nod, and he slides from right tackle to left this year after allowing just one sack in 16 starts. The newcomers earned every bit of it: Campbell, a first-time captain and first-time All-Pro, piled up 176 tackles, while McNeill returns strong more than a year and a half after ACL surgery. Fox, the seventh-year punter with the best gross and net averages this franchise has ever seen, gets his first captaincy. We just handled the Colts 25-16 in the preseason, and now Week 1 is here.
