Lions Survive a Wild One, Escape With 31-30 Overtime Win Over the Saints!

Well, the Lions gave us a heart attack and then handed us a win, escaping with a 31-30 overtime thriller over New Orleans on Sunday in Detroit. Detroit built a three-touchdown lead, blew all of it in the third quarter as the Saints stormed back from 21-0, and somehow found a way to hang on. That is football, folks. Jahmyr Gibbs was the engine, grinding out a career-high 29 carries for 156 yards and two scores while adding five catches for 30 yards. Jared Goff was steady and clean — 26 of 39 for 206 yards, two touchdown passes, and not a single turnover. Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three scores on the other side, but when Kellen Moore went for the win in overtime instead of the tie, Shough's 2-point pass fell incomplete in the end zone. Dan Campbell's crew sits at 1-0, tied atop the NFC North with Minnesota and Chicago. Next up: the Lions travel to Buffalo on Sept. 17 to face a Bills team that dropped 36 in Week 1. Buckle up.
