All things in perspective - Life is an unexpected journey down many paths that lead to an ending that is not predicted. During that time we have opportunities and experiences that will challenge you. How you respond to them is the key to your success. You can be rolling along the journey when you fall into a challenge that needs your attention. As much as we pay such accolades publicly to our Star Athletes and others that are glamorized, having just gone through a medical procedure you realize there are so many other people out there who warrant such praise. The doctors across the land who dedicate their profession to saving lives and putting people back in the seats for these athletes are true miracle workers. Just as athletes practice to get better, these wonderful Drs and personnel at the University of Michigan — I give them a standing ovation. I know others reading this might have differing opinions or experiences in their lives. But for the most part, since late June until this past week, I have worked with a team of specialists in their medical field for the first time. What an eye opening time it has been and what an appreciation I have for all of them. Those of us who know can attest, and so far this game is a win, but there can be tough losses to experience, no doubt challenges to deal with. But as a coach all my life, and the ups and downs in competition game to game, it is always crucial to have the team ready to go when the kickoff comes, puck drops or first pitch! My team of Drs and staff all were ready to roll that Monday morning at 7am, and this team went above and beyond. I'm sure as I was under they had a few adjustments to make. Monday Night Football came and went that week with Buffalo and Rams doing battle. My game was still going through the night thanks to my care team looking over me. Tuesday morning at about 11am I heard voices and woke up. Think that comes to 28 hours total. I wake in ICU and refigure where I'm at. Day? Time? Your heart has been stopped and then restarted by some of the most talented Drs in the land. They do this without blinking, like a slap shot or pull up jumper. A standing ovation for all involved, with an encore hat tip out of the dugout for all who impacted me. Later that day I'm up walking the halls with my PT guy Greg doing his part to get me moving along. After 8 days I'm leaving the hospital and 11 days later I'm sharing my admiration and accolades. As we quickly approach a sports weekend and most if not all of us will enjoy a game to laugh, cheer, applaud and socialize at, let us not ignore all the medical field who impact these contests too on the sideline or during the week leading to the games. Also, all the ones who are ready to jump into action 24/7 at hospitals across the land maybe not able to watch the big games. I believe that during our days that we take time to really appreciate those in the Medical field and the talents that they all have and the roles they play in our day to day lives. Red Wings and Pistons kick start their seasons- Well as you have noticed at LCA we have a slew of Detroit Red Wings and Pistons games weekly that will be entertaining us for the next 6-7 months if not longer. Both teams are looking to expand on their 2025-26 seasons. The Red Wings quest to get back to post season play is well pronounced and a drought nobody anticipated back in the hey days of 25 straight seasons qualifying. A mixture of young and old compile this teams roster this year. Early reviews have looked pretty solid watching the first few weeks of play. An excitement that only hockey can give you are bringing the LCA back to life a bit so far. Lots of season left to play. The Detroit Pistons, who in 2025-26 got hot and were the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Falling in the second round of the post season was sad but with a great core on the team and Cade Cunningham shaping into one of the top 5 stars in the league, high hopes return this season! Either way you slice it the LCA will be the place to be all winter long. UM and MSU Football - Well we have reached the mid point in the College Football season and the Wolverines and Spartans continue to battle each Saturday. It's been a crazy season again with upsets each and every Saturday. New 1st year coaches at both UM and MSU have been adjustments even both coaches come with huge experience. Both teams have huge impact games set for this weekend as Indiana comes to Ann Arbor and the Spartans travel to Los Angeles to face UCLA. The Bruins of UCLA sit atop the BIG so far this year and the Hoosiers, reigning Natty Champs, return a lot and are coming off a tough loss to Ohio St. Hopefully both teams can come out of the weekend with 2 victories!
