Pistons Lose Duren for at Least Two Weeks With Hamstring Strain

There's no sugarcoating this one. The Pistons announced Sunday that center Jalen Duren will be out at least two weeks with a right hamstring strain, suffered in the first half of Friday's win over the Miami Heat. He played just 10 minutes before heading to the bench, and now the big man who anchored our run to the top seed in the East last season has to watch and wait. The timing stings. Duren is coming off a year that announced him for good: a career-high 19.5 points per game, his first All-Star nod, an All-NBA third team honor, and a brand-new five-year, $200 million deal after a long offseason standoff. He opened this season with 22 points and nine rebounds against the Celtics. He was rolling. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff summed up the mood plainly: "It's tough when you lose a guy that means as much to us as JD does." We feel that in Detroit. Two weeks is a bridge we can cross, and this group has the depth to hold the fort until he's back.
