Tigers' Kids Roll Twins 7-2, Snap a Seven-Series Skid at Comerica!

The kids can play. Our Tigers pounded the Twins 7-2 at Comerica Park on Wednesday to take this series two games to one, and it was our youngest crew doing it — six rookies in the starting lineup and an average age of just 23.9 years old. That's the future, and Wednesday it looked awfully good. Colt Keith set the tone with his 10th homer for a first-inning 2-0 lead, and the long ball kept coming — Kody Clemens led off the fourth with his 26th, and Josh Bell followed with his 19th. Keider Montero gave way after two runs in four, but Tyler Holton (2-5) slammed the door with two scoreless innings for the win while Zebby Matthews (9-10) took the loss, tagged for five runs in 2 1/3. Here's what the win really means: it ends a seven-series losing streak, our first series taken since we grabbed two of three from Cleveland back on Aug. 11-13. After dropping 16 of 24, the group finally got off the mat. Next up, we host the Rockies on Friday, Framber Valdez on the bump.
