Twins Edge Our Tigers 3-2 as Clemens Burns His Old Team

It was a former Tiger who did us in at Comerica on Monday night, as Kody Clemens turned on a two-run homer in the sixth against the club that used to sign his checks — his fourth long ball against us this season. The Twins took it 3-2 in front of 22,874, and the sting of that is that Minnesota had lost four of five walking in. Dean Kremer got his first win since Aug. 10, and Yoendrys Gómez closed the door for his 22nd save in 22 chances. Our Drew Anderson took the loss, dropping his second straight start against these same Twins. There were bright spots, though: Zach McKinstry singled and came around on Kevin McGonigle's second homer in as many days, and McGonigle now sits one run from joining Bob Johnson, Ted Williams and Ben Grieve in a rookie club that dates to 1933. Still, the bigger picture is heavy. We're 6-18 since Aug. 14, and Wednesday's finale is a must-win to avoid an eighth straight losing series. The series is tied 1-1.
