The Spartans took care of business at Spartan Stadium on Saturday, September 12, running away from Eastern Michigan 35-7 to push their record to a spotless 2-0. This was the good kind of afternoon: 472 total yards, 258 on the ground, and 21 unanswered points in the second half to slam the door for good. Alessio Milivojevic was sharp, going 12-of-20 for 170 yards and two scores, one an 18-yard strike to Fredrick Moore and the other a 38-yard beauty to Charles Taplin — the redshirt freshman's first career touchdown. And how about Cam Edwards, our graduate back who churned out 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 21 carries. He was the workhorse. The defense did its part too, with Eli Coenen posting two sacks and Charles Brantley forcing and recovering a third-quarter fumble to flip the field MSU way. Brady Pretzlaff chipped in a career-high eight tackles. It was complete football, top to bottom. Now the fun starts: next Saturday the Spartans head to Notre Dame Stadium for the Megaphone Trophy, 7:30 p.m. on NBC and Peacock.
